Scene 1 of Act 1: The Cold

12/30/1845, Tuesday, Denmark

Lille's grandmother, before she had passed away, had always told Lille that a shooting star was someone's soul flying up to heaven. There had been a song involved— a lullaby, maybe?— but every time Lille sings it to herself she can't quite remember how the last part goes.
Still, she has gone out of her way to sneak to the clearing in the woods to see the meteor shower, even though it's well below freezing tonight and she doesn't even have shoes to shelter her feet from the snow. So it feels necessary to hum the three-quarters she does remember to herself as she watches the balls of light streak across the night sky.

This was a lot of fun to do, thanks to the chipscompo team for helping me get this one all fixed up! Also, see if you can spot all the Market Day references :D
