I'm not good at new wave and stuff, but there are many things off in this track. First one is the mixing, your sharp kick like thing which starts around 10sec is little loud and irritating for me. The drums addition at 28sec was satisfying though. again, a lot of clashing sharp noises around the drop around 1:04 and 1:29.
I cite inspirations in the tags, doubt this could pass for synthwave proper hence i posted it in techno as opposed to new wave.
At ten seconds in the lead starts, it's a grime one and there's no kick involved yet. I'm not entirely sure how this particular quality reflects on the balance of the mix as a whole since i wanted said instrument to sound gritty and abrasive, imo i may have done a bit too much to tame it in fact as it's rather more wide and loud prior to compression and eq cuts. Perhaps that's not at all what you meant though, i don't know.
Harshness and clashes i'm just going to file under stylistic choices as i'm rather pleased with them and while i fully appreciate these elements can annoy some listeners, they're certainly free and welcome to voice their disapproval, that's unfortunately not my problem since i can neither please everyone nor do i ever plan to.
Anyhoo, sorry you had a bad time and thanks for listening.
Love the frequency of the sharp kick
Still working on getting the hang of reason 9, whole track is now in the same key including that kick.
Super dig when it kicks at 1:29+2:29, nice work as always
Glad you like.
She's worse then we imagined.
