A Man I Never Knew

Author Comments

I'm really nervous about releasing this, it's the first poem I've ever shown anyone that I've written.

Terry Pratchett is a British Author, best known for creating the Discworld series of Fantasy books. I highly recommend them, this man changed my life and I tried to write a short poem, which I intend to animate, to commemorate him.

I also wanted this work as a poem if you don't know who Terry Pratchett is, let me know in the comments if this has worked?

Terry Pratchett GNU.

Disclaimer: Contains paraphrases of Terry Pratchett quotes.

Words:

A man I never knew taught me to not fear death.
He made me see magic in the mundane,
He taught me that gutters can breed fine men,
That the palace holds empty heads.
He taught me that heroes come in all shapes and sizes, and the greatest of them hide together, behind copper shields.

A man I never knew, taught me not to fear death,
For he’s a kind fellow really, everyone’s oldest friend and total stranger.
From him I found the courage to be a coward.
I learnt to laugh in the face of...life, and that it’s still magic - even if you know how it’s done.

I learnt that cat’s are nice.

I found love for mankind. I found hatred for mankind.
I find man, kind.

A man I never knew, taught me not to fear death,
For what can the harvest hope, if not the care of the Reaper Man.
