Eh. I'm not sure if a 40 second loop is good enough for Spooktacular, but I wanted to make something in the very least. I was originally supposed to collab with dem0lecule, and he worked on something, but the file decided to go all corrupt on us. I've also been very busy NOT doing schoolwork I should've been doing. Hurray for me!

I ended up finding an old MIDI-file recorded by me ages ago (named USERSONG99, hehhe) and I quite liked it. I decided to make a full loop out of it, as it would've been a waste to let the file rot. Instead, I grew a pumpkin out of it.

Well, as you'll have noticed by now, this is not your normal kind of semi-goofy halloween track, nor it is a super "dark" dark one. I like it, as it takes on a slightly more sad tone. A bit like Davy Jones's theme from PoTC2.
It's a bit early, but I imagine this piece focusing on the other side of Halloween, which'd be "All Hallows", or "All Saints' Day". Traditionally, it'd be on November 1st, but then it would be too late to upload this.

So despite me not being religious, I decided to make this in order to commemorate those that have died on us, instead of making something more spooky. In a sense, maybe that only succeedes in making this piece way more creepier, as it's about real deaths, which we've had to live through?

Either way. It has been a while since I last uploaded one of my classic LSD style loops. So hopefully, you'll enjoy this!
Unfortunately, the NG Player messes up the loop just enough to get a small crackle in there, but that's okay.

The atmosphere is lovely!

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Why thank you ;)))

Oh, I really love the atmosphere here! The music box in particular gives off a dream-like innocence, but the heavy reverb gives it an ethereal, spooky quality. On top of that, the strings and piano hint at a melancholy tone...the more I listen, the gloomier I become. It makes me sad.

I'd love to hear more like this, LSD. Keep at it, friend! :)

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thanks a lot for taking a listen and for leaving a review, dude!
I definitely was aiming for just that ethereal, spooky, yet melancholy atmosphere.
Now that you mention it, the effect this track has seems to increase when it's listened to longer. Interesting o.O

I'll definitely make more similar stuff in the future. This belongs to one of my main genres, after all :3

Davy Jones meets Edward Scissorhands. Beautiful, sad, haunting and imaginative. The loop is perfect and as it goes on it doesn't seem repetitive in the least. In fact you don't know when it's going to end and it's just so perfect.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

That is actually a great comparison o.O
I love the soundtrack from Edward Scissorhands :D Thanks for comparing me to some of the greats :3

You know, I checked out some of your voice acting, and man, you're amazing!!! I mean, you're really really good :O
If someone ever asks me about finding a good voice actor, I know who I'll recommend ;)
If I ever start making stuff requiring voice acting other than my own, I'll definitly turn to you :p
(Sorry to say, I probably won't need voice acting, as I mainly make music, but we never know; maybe some creepy story read by a good voice with a creepy track as a background sometime).

Either way, I hope you'll have luck in this deparment in the future, as you definitely deserve it!

Lovely! Glad you could do something for halloween. These are some really nice harmonies and I canĀ“t say it often enough: I love music boxes. Just wish it would have been longer, but it loops perfectly! Love your melodies. Hope you will be able to extend to foll length at some point...

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Aaaggghhhh I thought I responded to this already D:

Thanks a lot man! I think we both share a common love for music boxes :D
They are just great sounding instruments :p

Yeah. I do have some projects going on, even if my upload speed has slowed down a bit for now. Also, although I didn't review it, I want you to know that "Chuckles likes children" is among my very favorites of the tracks I've heard on NG this month!

Your best work, in my opinion, tends to have this surreal feeling to them. You have a considerable amount of emotional intelligence to be able to elicit these feelings of purgatory through music- not giving us despair, but ferrying us through an endless wave of somber. This and Vos Postergum have a very strong sense of embodiment that I pedestal above all of your other work, simply because it just immediately bonds with you...the stronger I bond with a particular piece of music, the more poetic I get lol, so sorry for the more creative review. Entrancing track, cool minimalist work, and a lot of replay value!

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

I really love reading your reviews, as they are all very honest, and you have your own take on everything, so I can trust that your reviews are always unique. I consider myself to have quite a lot of emotional intelligence, not only when it comes to music, but in everyday life as well. I usually do my best to understand the people around me, and of course, also myself. I am sure that this shines through in my music, and I am happy that it does. Apart from melodies and chords, I often like to build up an atmosphere, like I did in this piece. Other than just piano solo compositions, this kind of a track goes back to the very roots of my style. I'm not sure if it can be heard, but even in more ambient tracks such as this, I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to details :p

It makes my day to hear that not only do you enjoy the music, but you connect to it. Thank you so much for letting me know in the form of such a nice review! :)
