Thanks, happy to hear you're digging it!
Sounds that one person find too dry, another find to have oldschool charm, I guess. ^3^
I like the beginning up to around 35. It's a decent into, but a lot of the melodies you added in didn't really capture me. Actually I thought many of them sounded annoying. Maybe not exactly because of the melody itself, but I lot of the high pitched things got a bit grating. I do appreciate the effort put into keeping decent variation. I do like the vibe around 1:50 to 2:20.
I'm actually pretty happy with the synths, but it's really good knowing what others think! Thanks for the feedback! :)
Edit: Now, some time later, I sort of agree that there is too much high pitched content (especially for an extended amount of time)! ^^'
Your kick is distorted. Learn about compression and sidechaining. The 808 snare roll is unnecessary. The snare in the kick snare, kicksnare pattern is either inaudible or just not even there.
The bassline could do with being low passed and you could automate the low pass filter to make it less boring.
A lot of the leads are too dry, try adding either more reverb or more delay.
Haha, I know about the kick but I liked it! xD
There is no snare besides the 808, but I think you mean the clap? Yeah it's quiet, but I looked at it more as ambience, but considering the percussion is pretty sparse I can totally see why you feel it should be more audible.
Fair point about the bassline, I tend to be lazy when it comes to filter modulation! ;)
The same amount of delay and reverb is used as in the beginning, where I think it sounds plenty. But you think I should increase it for the louder parts? I know it doesn't come through very well, but I don't want to overdo it either.
Please contact me if you would like to use this in a project. We can discuss the details.
