The downfall of a great city has begun, but what lies in the future ahead?

This particular piece was heavily inspired by the amazing artwork of Kamikaye (Megaplex Tree, link down below), and was made specifically for Realfaction's Art-Inspired Music (AIM) contest.

As the artwork tells a story of its own, I tried to convey a similar message in the music as well. Of course, what that story is all about, is up to you!

Interesting stuff:

Software used: Reaper 4

Tempo in bpm: 100-120

Time signature: 4/4

Key signatures: Variants of A minor, D minor

Megaplex Tree (by Kamikaye):

Feedback and general comments are always welcome :)

Note: there's quite a few different themes in this piece, so it might be worth listening to it 2-3 times to get 'used' to them.

I do have to agree that with the comment saying the guitar riffs are awesome. There are a few elements that I miss in this. I think this song could have been a bit more intense than it is now. For this further on interesting and almost fascinating piece I'd give a solid 8,7 out of 10. The style is good, but I kind of miss something.

Also, have you seen that amazing movie Der Untergang (Downfall)?

EagleGuard responds:

Thanks for your review! Glad you liked the piece overall, and I'll try to take your feedback into account in the future.

And yeah, I have seen that move, actually. Great film indeed!

This song is very awesome. I really like this style. I would have liked to do a guitar riff thing just like this for one of my songs, but unfortunately I didn’t find anything like this in my libraries.

But hey, I haven’t explored everything just yet.

Very nice, reminds me quite a bit of David Orr.

I see what people are saying as far as this missing something, and as far as I can tell it's that the sound doesn't feel organic enough. Some parts almost sound like trance while the rest is orchestral and it doesn't blend together very well. It could also use another layer or two of instrumentation to give it a little more bass to carry the seriousness of it.

EagleGuard responds:

Thanks for the review, much appreciated!

I'll certainly take the things you've said into consideration for my future productions. I've been working on my mixing skills for the last few months, so hopefully that'll fix some of the issues people mention with my music.

I don't feel any "sad" in this song, and I think it's perfectly good for this. Incredible piece of work, one of the best I've seen on this site so far. Keep on the good work!

EagleGuard responds:

Thank you for your kind words!

I feel like this has devastating potential to be an epic, doesn't seem to fit cinematic that much. Like, the from 00:00 - 00:11 could be looping throughout the entire song, with other, perhaps melancholy sounds playing. And if it was going to be sad it should stay at a slow tempo.

EagleGuard responds:

Thank you for sharing your opinion :)
