Not really, this was in the medley originally.

This version almost made in it into the Zelda Medley

0:00-0:32 the ostenato is very heavy and the flute/pic (just gonna call it flute) sounds very plucky when legato would have been more appropriate. Additionally the 2nd flute makes these little dissonances and note overlaps that are rather unpleasant.
0:33-1:12 Feels like it's in 4 - valses don't *have* to be in 3 but it makes them much waltzier. you seemed to try to compensate with this weird syncopation, which got really close to working, however it still feels very much like what would be a short interlude that's more than a third of the song. 1:08 there's a real crunch that doesn't work with the lightness of the section. The pizz at the end of the section (1:10-1:12) is really good though
1:13-end I'd immediately say this is the strongest section of the song, however its pulse is too hard and has me doing a real heavy bob, which ends up making it feel jerky. Additionally, there was little variation here, with the original ostenato just feeling less heavy because you made your melody the entire strings section instead of just one flute. With your heavy, repetitive rhythm and little variation from chords in your melody, this section does end up being a little two-dimensional aside from a couple spots. It's the most solid out of the three sections, but it isn't that spectacular on it's own
It's a solid attempt, however I wouldn't waltz to this.

*giving a review 5 years late to a NG creator who isn't active, it's my thing :)

0:00-0:32 yes it is, lol. This was made when I first picked edirol orchestra. It's not the greatest but it was free and can sound amazing with a little TLC. Also i was just learning how to use and my ear for what i could produce out of that program just wasn't there yet.

0:32-1:12 it is in 4/4 I went back and forth on whether it should 3/4 or 6/8 I settled for 4 because it felt better for the tempo and because if you think about it every bar and a half ends up being in 4 so I just went with it since, you are right a valse doesn't strictly need to be in 3 to be one. As for the syncopation I also dont think the flutes lent very well to that but i just chalk it up to my inexperience at the time. The clarinets do the same thing as the flutes but significantly less noticable and that kind of obvious juxtaposition is a little jarring.
1:13-end
Yea I honestly didnt want to drag out too long because of the tempo but as you said, I simply wanted a solid kinda end to it. Since pretty much all video themes end in V or vii so it can easily circle back for an endless continual loop. I wanted something simple and easy that more or less signaled the listener that it's coming to end. I played it too safe in my opinion though. Again, looking back on it i like the piece but i wouldn't say i love it. I might revisit this and elaborate more.

*thanks for the feedback, my dude. I sometimes forget that I have an NG account and it makes me happy whenever people leave me comments

i do love a good Zelda remix. very quiet though

brujeria responds:

the volume seems fine to me when I play it both on my ipod and computer. I suppose I could make it it a tad louder, though.
