Retribution

This tune attempts to portray the feeling you get when someone does something terrible and damaging to you. Somewhere deep inside, you feel retribution towards that person.

That's a beautiful, simple composition. The strings that come in at the half-way point are heart-tugging, or something like that, haha. My complaint is that the piano seems to be here, in front of me, around me, in my head, or whatever, while everything else is very distant and quiet.

It does what it sets out to do, and it does it well. That's really all I can say about this piece. The samples and post-production are very clean, allowing one to focus on the melody, which is really the important part of this song.

One thing I don't like is that, as a song, it leaves a little to be desired. Personally, I believe a great melody will have issues carrying a song if that's all it has going for it. Throughout the whole track, one's ear is constantly attracted to the light piano riff when there's clearly good string presence there.

The bottom line is that, as a soundtrack, it does its job incredibly well (I left this on for like 15 minutes before I remembered it was playing and came back to review). As a song, it seems like you could have taken advantage of the nice string samples you used a little more, but it's still definitely nice to listen to.

Good stuff man!
