Penumbra's Fate

I was drawing a while ago and created a character named Penumbra. He is half angel and half demon. I was inspired by the definition of the word.
Penumbra: A partial shadow, as in an eclipse, between regions of COMPLETE SHADOW AND COMPLETE ILLUMINATION.

Belonging neither to heaven nor hell, Penumbra is cursed with a timeless fate... to wander the Earth alone, unbeknownst to its inhabitants. A spiritual being, which cannot affect the physical dimension.

This is a song I worked on a couple years ago in Reason 5.0. I never finished it because my computer broke and I can't hook up my old hard drives to the computer I use now to retrieve the data because it's a different kind of computer. Thought I'd upload something for you to enjoy while I'm suffering from writer's block. x)

This song has no correlation to the game Penumbra.

Inspired by Thomas Newman.

This is absolutely beautiful and haunting at the same time.

AshleyAlyse responds:

Thank you so much. :)

Beautiful Composition! It reminded me of the theme from American Beauty in the beginning so I can see how you got your inspiration from Thomas Newman :)
Nice work

AshleyAlyse responds:

That's exactly what inspired me! The music from that movie. :D Thank you, Mattashi! :3

Simple but very emotive and nice. Good work -as usual e.e-

AshleyAlyse responds:

Thank you kindly! :)

This has a beautiful simplicity to it. I enjoy the chordal progressions and the subtle ominous sound that lurks behind the triumphant melody.

AshleyAlyse responds:

Glad you find it so. Thank you. :)

A penumbra is also 'implied powers in law'. For example, you have a right to breathe, though it doesn't say that in the law. Since you have a right to live, and breathing is required to live, it is IMPLIED that you have a right to breathe. However, it is only implied. Your local government COULD theoretically outlaw breathing.

I like this loop. It's sad, pretty, and enlightening. Just like... Like... A penumbra.

AshleyAlyse responds:

Wah, well, that certainly is interesting. x) Thank you for the review. :3
