You guys have a very unique sound, and the way you blend genres is definitely interesting. The production is nice and clean, especially compared to other audio portal recordings. Overall, good work!

Ok, I listened to this for a couple of days now and I couldn't wait to get a chance to say something about it.

I really like it. Psychedelic, reggae, progressive.
It also sounds a bit like the Mars Volta. And also a bit TV on the Radio.

The vocalist does a great job at... everything... He has a good range, goes between different registers, it's all cool.

I can't find something bad to say about this piece. I feel quite ashamed, lol. I really like this. It's fresh, it's interesting, it's not derivative, keep up the good work!

One suggestion, I might sound ridiculous, but try to find someone to play a brass instrument. Think about it a bit!

VaudevilleFreud responds:

Well thank you for the honest and nice review, I appreciate what you said about Brass, I actually play trumpet, you can hear it on a number of other tracks that I have posted, we just couldn't find a place for it on this track because the song is busy for me vocally and from a live standpoint I would not have been able to pull off trumpet and vocals.

Thank you for the feedback, Ill keep working at it!

This is an excellent track. There aren't many bands here on Newgrounds and when I hear band songs with solid production like this, it makes me forget I'm actually hearing this on the Audio Portal haha.

I'm just going to skip straight to the good news. This sounds great. Not only is it considerably unique but you've got some great production value and composition. I'm highly impressed by the instrument playing (especially that drummer) and even the singing is excellent. It falls a bit flat at times but come on, it's tough to execute perfect vocals and these are damn near perfect.

What I also quite liked was that you don't just stick to predictability like so many other songs in this genre. For instance, just when I thought that I heard all there is to hear in this song, 3:53 comes in. Apart from that, you've got plenty of sweet things like gating on the guitar, whispering, and neat drum fills like the one at 4:50 to keep the listener interested.

Despite all that, I think that at 5 minutes and a half, this can get monotonous unfortunately. I have nothing against long songs and I can hear you made a genuine effort to keep things fresh and interesting, but despite that, it doesn't really vary much from the sleazy, trippy-sounding mood it latches onto so much. And even though the production value is great, the mix is slightly muddy, making it hard to make out some of the sounds, including the lyrics themselves.

There are a few other small issues here and there that I won't bother getting into, but overall, damn, this is excellent stuff! Great work, keep it up.

Man, this song was so trippy but in a good way lol. Very cool and dynamic way of playing. Engaging vocals. Very enjoyable listen from start to end. Awesome job!

This rocks, it's like stoner reggae.
