Determining The Stakes

"A battle of the wits?", his guest was taken aback.

The Yanterflum relaxed his fists but the animosity in his face remained, "I think I made myself rather clear".

His Guest tugged at the quills on his chin, his eyes beset with concern, "There's hardly a need for that...I-I'm sure we can settle this civilly".

"It's evident you forgot to bring your civility when you questioned my Rogue Blue!", He turned himself about and walked toward a podium sandwiched between two bookcases. His hands hovered over a large leather-bound tome, the title embroidered in gold, "Battles of the Wit, Rules and Regulations". He quickly returned and dropped the book on the
table, a spatter of dust taking flight around them.

"You can't be serious!" The concern in his guest's eyes turned to fear.

The Yanterflum waved his finger at him, "I warned you last time Weaver, you failed to heed it".

"But certainly you jest.. I-", The Yanterflum ignored him. He opened the tome revealing the golden parchment inside.

"Page 58, determining the stakes.", His finger slid down the page to a symbol foreign to the book, "When one's knowledge of cheese has been challenged it is only honourable to demand a battle of the wits", his eyes quickly met with Weaver's before returning to the tome, "Standard stakes, 1 month's supply of fine cheese to go to the victor-"

"One Month!?", Weaver broke in.

"Hm. That is rather much for a friend. We'll make it a fortnight"

"That's half the cheese I have!"

The Yanterflum's eyes narrowed, "Either you accept the challenge or leave here dishonoured", he paused for a moment, "Besides you eat half of my cheese as it is!".

Weaver leaned forward putting his head in his hands, "Well..."

The Yanterflum slammed his fists on the table again, his voice booming, "Do you accept the stakes or not!"

Weaver's head fell to the table with a heavy thud, he pushed himself back up in his chair a look of surprise strewn across his face, "Yes! Yes, I accept!"

I fucking love those kind of songs, In wich magic and mystery is here, ghosts and enigme world...
AWESOME WORK !

By the way I can create a fight animation between 2 wits with Flash If you want ( with stickmens ) :D

WingoWinston responds:

Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed it!

If you want to make an animation to the song with stickmens then knock yourself out!

Cheers.

Ahhh more Yanterflum! I actually think the story could have been narrated over this music, the connection between them is so strong! With the scene of the Yanterflum's abode still fresh in my head, this encounter really took on a life of its own to me. The walls a reddish-orange, glowing because of a fireplace. The Yanterflum's...blue or green I think. He seems a little more tame here than I thought he would be, but I think that's a good character choice. Just, really great storytelling supported nicely with the music, which loops! That's a nice touch as well. Nice work!

WingoWinston responds:

As if you also think he's green/blue. Definitely on the same track with the Yanterflum.

And I just wanted to show how ruthless he could be, even to a friend. I think my next piece will be the actual battle of wits with naturally, the accompanied storytelling. Thanks for taking the time to actually listen, read, and review!

cool sounds like Zelda open world music

WingoWinston responds:

Haven't played many of the new games so I'm not sure lol
