Gilgamesh walks out of the shadows in a tavern... with a dark presence he unintentionally scares the alewife Siduri, he calms her by explaining who he is and what his journeys purpose is. She warns him that his ambition is far too dangerous and his chances of success are limited. However, after some time of convincing her, she directs him to Urshanabi, the ferryman, who works for Utnapishtim.

When he arrives he can see two stone-giants. Out of instinct he attacks and dispose of them.
Gilgamesh asks the ferryman for help, but the man is furious, because what Gilgamesh just did was destroying the only means of transportation across the Waters of Death.

The Waters Of Death Are Not To Be Touched...
Passing Your Hand Over Them Is Death Itself...

He calms down and advices the King of Uruk to cut 120 trees and fashion them into punting poles so that they can cross the waters by picking a new pole each time, and he pulls off the garments of Gilgamesh and uses them as sails. After all the hardship, they set sail toward Dilmun, many times across the waters they almost touch it, and their lives are in jeopardy the whole time. But they manage to get to the other side.

Utnapishtim can see the ferryman coming but is skeptical of the other person coming along. He demands to know who this powerful warrior is. Gilgamesh tells him his story and asks for help, but Utnapishtim reprimands him because fighting the fate of humans is futile and ruins the joy in life.

I noticed you have a story that goes along with these songs so I assume that this is part of a concept album. I don't see this often! hats off to you.

DanJohansen responds:

Thanks man! Glad you enjoyed it :D The concept of this album is the story about Gilgamesh and Enkido.

Very epic track indeed. Beautifully composed. I really enjoy reading the story along with it. Painted a very tenacious and intrepid journey in my mind. Downloading, I really dig it.

DanJohansen responds:

Appreciate it, thanks for listening and glad you enjoyed it! :D

Truly epic

DanJohansen responds:

You are truly epic!

This is so amazing!!! It deserves to get big so bad! It's really unique, and has a kind of Steve Vai/dream theater feel to it. I love the piano and stuff. I'm no musician so I can't really say stuff about like... Stuff. But it's really appealing to the ear! <3

DanJohansen responds:

Appreciate the compliments coco! Glad you dig it!! ROCK ON!!!

this is AWESOME!!!! i love the way you change rock styles throughout the song. i also liked part 1 of this song. i liked both parts so much that i used Audacity to splice both parts together to make a 10:54 rock epic! i look forward to finding more of your songs as i browse the audio portal.

DanJohansen responds:
