Wolfie - What I Fight For

Originally had a vocal sample in the beginning, but I removed it to upload it to Newgrounds (but you can hear it on my Facebook page, if you'd like).

I've taken the critique I've gotten and re-recorded all my songs (this one being one of them). Hopefully, I've shown improvement.

Cool track. Just curious - what mic do you use? How do you use it? How far away are you from the mic when you record? I'm wondering because I was listening to another one of your tracks and it had a similar problem - the vocals are really nasally. I'm pretty sure that's not how you sound in reality, so I think it could be an EQ issue or odd mic placement, or a cheap mic, but I've heard you rerecorded these tracks? I tend to put a sock right over the mic so I don't blow into it and get that noise. Then I have my mouth right up (less than 2 inches) from the mic, and it generally sounds pretty good. Then again, we could have completely different setups. Anyway, cool track. Love the beat. The snare has this clang quality to it that kinda bugs me (it sounds like someone hit the snare and a tom tom at the same time) but it's not too big an issue. It's probably an old-school hip hop style motif. Nice rapping. Interesting music. Keep up the good work!

Wolfie responds:

I use Blue Microphone's Snowball, a USB mic. To be honest, I don't have a fancy set-up (or any set-up, really). I just kinda have my mic up on a platform high enough to reach my face, and I just record. I stand roughly about 4-6 inches away, with a pop filter inbetween. It -could- be an EQ issue since I recently decided to mess with my original EQ settings. I probably never noticed it sounding nasally because I got used to how it sounded, I suppose (and boy, if I -do- actually sound nasally in real life but just never noticed it, then that'll suck lol). I'll have to look into it. And yeah, I've re-recorded my stuff, so they'll all have this problem, probably.

Thanks for the review! You know about this stuff much more than I do, so I appreciate reading your tips.

Different if not anything, keep it up and try changing your tones up more and get looser with your sylablles

Wolfie responds:

Well, it's disappointing to know this wasn't much of an improvement as I thought it'd be. That aside, I appreciate you taking the time to leave a review. I'll keep trying to get better. Thanks!
