Newgrounds T-Shirt Commer

Hello Newgrounds.

I've been loving this site for years and I've decided to finally take a crack at voice acting, and participate in the Newgrounds Community. I've always enjoyed the voices that came from Newgrounds, as a lot of times they were the part of the flash that would make it for me. I always wanted to give it a shot, so here is my first attempt.

As a first demo, here is an audio version of the hilarious Newgrounds text selling the Newgrounds Logo T-Shirt in the Newgrounds Store.

Here is the original source of that text and the product itself:

All credit of writing this text and script goes to Tom Fulp, and the Newgrounds Crew.

Sound effects taken from the royalty-free http://www.freesfx.co.uk.

Hopefully you enjoy, and please, I encourage you to give me some feedback, as I really enjoy doing/want to do this and could use some tips. Either by PM or comment.

If you did enjoy this enough and need a voice for a Flash, by all means, throw me a PM.

Haha

Not much I can say about this, other than you seem to need a bit better microphone quality.

The effects made it funny, the lines were funny, and the acting was good. Of course, it could have been better. With your ups and lows and your pauses.

Also, I believe you pronounced Jordache wrong? I'm not an English major though, ha.

Overall, funny but could have been better.

Thanks for the review. :) Yes, I'm afraid I do need better equipment, and also i DID happen to pronounce Jordache wrong, as I was corrected by my Music teacher two days after. -_-

Thanks for the review, hope to have a higher level performance in the future.

Only if the tank's real!

A nice little demo here, with a very well written script and added sound effects for the added levels of realism thrown in for good measure. I like it.

What I don't like is that the voiceover seems rushed - slow the pace down just a little. Take some time to calm yourself down before recording and if you're not entirely satisfied with the result, do it again. Perfection is a way of life and perfect is a legitimate goal in something like this. Take all day, just get the speed right.

If I were to say you did one thing wrong with the editing process, you didn't have the "NG T-Shirt appears" part done over Endless Handbag Loop, as that's exactly the music I'd have over my Newgrounds T-Shirt advert.

I'd also love to see someone animate it, possibly with someone ripping the piss out of Tom in a funny, but playful manner, if possible.

Thanks for the review Coop! I wouldn't mind if someone tried to animate this either.

Good commercial

This is a very nice commercial. I like the way you read the text. It sounds very natural and yet at the same way you sound like a guy who really wants to sell the product he is advertising.

I also like the sound effects you included here. At first I thought this was recorded at a party and people in the background where talking while you did this. But no, this where some sound effects included to make this track sound better. Very nice.

However, the music at the end is cut off too suddenly. Maybe a short fade out would be better here.

Nicely done

Well the sound effects in the background are pretty cool and make this rather well done. I like how you sound that people where terrible attire and then the music at the end is rather nice and gives the listener the image that the two people are beginning to dance.

Your voice is rather nice too. What kind of microphone are you using here? Above all, it does make you feel like buying Newgrounds merchandise from the NG store. Very well done here, hilarious at the same time too.

Overall, nicely done store ad with your voice.

NeutralObjections responds:

Actually, and quite ashamedly, I just used the built in microphone on my MacBook, as I don't really own a true voice acting microphone.

However, I hope to acquire some money on my birthday a purchase the one I have in mind. Woo.

Thanks for the review, and I'm very glad you enjoy my voice. :D

I liked it

It's a good bit of voice acting, that's for sure. It kept me listening, and that's very important for a commercial. The few sound effects you used are adding something to the realisticness of the commercial. The story isn't boring at all, and although not very realistic, still not hard to think about in real life.

It's a bit too long for a commercial though. I think that in a commercial you have to convince people to buy your t-shirt in a very short time. It would be even better if you could do it in twenty seconds or less.
This is mainly I think because it took you over half a minute to explain the setting. That's great for voice acting, but not realistic for a commercial.

So as a voice acting thing it's nice, because you acted it well. But as a commercial, I don't think it would fit.

NeutralObjections responds:

I agree its a bit long for a commercial. But not the other hand, I didn't write it. :P

I did a voice over for the Newgrounds T-Shirt Text that Tom Fulp wrote on the page to buy it. (Link is in the description.)

Thanks for the review!
