It's been far too long since I wrote a classical song. I tried very hard not to make it repetitive, and thus, it moves along pretty quickly. I might make an extended version some time in the future.

EDIROL, Y U NO MAKE GOOD SOUNDING TRUMPET?!?!?!?!?!?!

but that aside, I am also continuing the three for one deal, meaning:
IF YOU REVIEW THIS SONG, I WILL REVIEW THREE OF YOUR WORKS.
If that's not incentive enough, I don't know what is....

Thanks for listening!

Oooh, oceanic.

The main ostinato stays there throughout the whole thing, it's always in the background, backing everything up. This definitely isn't repetitive, which I liked. The overall feel of it was splendid and would work awesomely for a movie/flash/game. Reminds me of Pirates of the Caribbean.

Now, quibbles, quibbles, quibbles. The intro just jumps right in, no real introduction to speak of other than the development of the ostinato that starts it off. There's no problem with the production that I can think of, so that gets left alone. Unfortunately though, while the song is awesome for listening to once without something backing it up, overall, it's background music for a visual. Otherwise, it gets boring after listening to it once or twice. The end kind of threw me for a loop, it just jumped right into the end and said "There, it's over. Shoo." Endings and intros are the hardest to get right though, so that's not too bad.

Overall, solid piece, quite good. I enjoyed it for what it was.

Thanks for the review! Most of my songs that I write are intended for BG music. None of them really stand on their own.

Quite epic

I don't know about the "pirate" feel. This is way too majestic and epic to be a tune for pirates. It sounds more like a ship of heroic sailors making it's way through troubled waters, IMO.

Really, really well written piece here, the composition is near flawless. The instruments you've used work alongside eachother well, especially love how you handled the strings, and the rhythmics section. Rhythmics sound not so complex, but rather grand.

The track is well varied and has, as mentioned, this overall majestic and epic feel, like the track itself is telling a tale.

Great intro and great ending to a great piece. I can only give this piece a 10, anything below is, IMO, not high enough.

Thanks for the review, I'm very glad that you enjoyed the song! I think that the majestic feel is the essence of classical music, and I hope to write more in the future :D

Yarrr ;D

Like the guys from the RRC said, It sounds extremely piratey, And If I do say so myself, Pirates are the bomb. But all jokes aside, it's a good track, better than the bare average of the classical music here, I'm not saying it's the best, but with a few fixes here and there, it could sound much better than it already does.

K, Intro. Frankly I think it starts off way too abruptly, I would have added maybe an instance of strings, slowly increasing in volume, and then I'd insert your intro, but hey, that's just me. You are the producer after all.

The melodies were alright, nothing too memorable but not a discordant trainwreck, so I'm 50/50 on the melodies. My favourite melody though was the flute which started at about 0:17.

Strings, well, you can't have a classical track without strings, but on the other hand you can't have strings without a backbone. In my opinion, it needed something more, some bass staccatos to back it up, maybe a cello melody in the sidelines to tie the track together, it's those little things that make a solid track.

Drums were alright, but you overused the bassdrum a little too much :P I'd remove half the hits you had in the actual bass drum rythm, and then maybe layer it with a snare for more emphasis.

The instruments themselves weren't perfect though, far from it. You actually need to fix them up because you have a slightly muddy mix goin' on here.

The first thing I would do is compress the brass you have in the background, and maybe increase the high-end by just a little bit, because when listening to this on my laptop speakers, I could barely notice it.

I understand that the strings took the leading role in the song but you can't leave beautiful melodies and instruments like the ones you applied (such as the piano, if I'm hearing correctly) move along with so little presence.

Overall, quite a beautiful uplifting track, but it's missing those little tidbits that would make it awesome! :D

Well Done :)

Intros were never my strong spot -__- but I've been improving in this area in my proceeding songs. This song was more a quickie for me.

In this piece, I was trying to make sure at all time that I had a "main melody" and that everything else was subordinated to it. Thus, this led to other melodies, like the piano, being overwhelmed by the others. I shall take your criticism on this matter into consideration, as you do have a very valid point here.

WHERE ARE THOSE TIDBITS?!?!?!?!!?

haha one day I'll find them.

Agrees with SCTE3

Very reminiscent of Pirates of the Caribbean :)
I loved the overall feel of this song, and it could easily fit into a flash animation or game!

I could see an epic ship battle with this music in the backround; storms overhead Crackle and Roar as the scene below rages on. Two captains stand with swords drawn, and the battle for honor ensues :D.

Great Work!

Pirates of the sea

I can just see this going perfectly with a montage of pirates at sea actually as they search high and low for mythical creatures as well as treasure too. However the leader is a girl pirate who took over at a young age when her father who was also a pirate got killed years earlier and she has learned to defend herself with helps of the other friendly pirates on board wishing to keep her safe in his memory. Great piece of work though.

The chorus is greatly done here as they provide high notes with their voices making you feel rather good. The pan flute was pretty cool and kind of made me think of an ocarina being played actually. The cymbals and tribal drums make a nice combination as they make you feel as if you were at sea with that pirate queen fighting beside her for good reasons.

The tune is a greatly dramatic pirate tun, nice!!

Overall, great piece of work.

TheBellmaker responds:

Thanks for the review! I've always struggled with the chorus, but here I think I finally got the technique down.

Hopefully more to come!
