Most of the stuff I come up with is done at night 'cause mainly I require an environment of high energy. When you read that, you will probably be thinking high energy to mean an excess of positivity, being enlightened, or maybe an elated state....nahhh. That's not it.
IMHO, to be creative means, 'know thyself'. I know, of myself, so I may produce quality work, that I requre calm, relaxed, quiet....before getting on with a composition. This is like a zen moment thatt lasts anywhere between 5min to 1 hour. But I allow the process to happen. That's the key. This is what I call 'The Zone'
I can do this night after night until the song is complete. My advice to music creators... try not to be in such a heeded rush. Allow your music to become the true expression of who you are.
