HEY PEOPLE
===========
I listen to a ton of electro, house, trance, etc. but I don't make very many songs that fit in those genres. The only song I've thought was good enough to go on the web was probably Eyes Open, and now this.
It's my first good electro song, which means that it isn't that great on the larger scale. I'm happy with it at the moment though. :P

Also I started the song with a nice ambient groove, that's actually a different song I made that I just decided to use as the intro for this. (That song will be uploaded later, it's part of an album my friend KKSlider60 and I are working on.)

Anyways, enjoy!
And definitely leave constructive criticism because I really want to get better at this kind of music. :D

Holy shit these reviews....

reading them all is like the university exams, haha- except more less boring.

Man, this track has a awesome intro, Except, i think you must work on some organizing. There is a cool melosy and chords, then the kick and bass seems random, a little bit, But very empty. Also work with some more variety on the overall percussion.

5kyLight responds:

Thanks. And yeah the reviews are HILARIOUS
I will agree with you that this song is not nearly as good as it could be, I made it a while ago and it was my first attempt at this genre. :P

Thanks for the feedback though. Also: "more less boring"? lolwut

wow, i enjoyed listening to the whole thing!

great work on your intros, man!
that intro was awesome! it's all about the effects, i'm glad you didn't start out with a melody and carry it though out the whole song or something like that, it made me want to keep listening to it!
i wish i could think the same as you "if i change themes a lot, and change the melody a ton, its gunna make the song a lot a greater, and really, it gave it life!
Why do you think orchestral music wasn't as popular in the classic period as it is now?
(ps, im not in any orchestras, so i know what im talking about)
it isnt because people couldnt grasp on to a main beat. it kept changing up and the theme got different throughout the song, like a really good story. back in the day that was great, but nowadays, complex with not a lot of depth can get you far. but just make it too simple if possible. and believe me, i know what im talking about, i hear from fellow musicians all the time about how i have horrible intonation and i know how to add serious complexity to tracks. check a few of mine out, idk if they'll help you, but they should give you a little basis on what you already know. maybe try a shit ton of reverb?

but i can see prevalent skill

the song repeated, and im hearing those awesome tempo increaces again...
god, please make that happen again. i mean, i really liked that you used the same synth for that part, and i could really grasp on to melody at that part, so please use cool effects like that early before ppl can even predict what the next notes will sound like.
great stuff, and im sure you'll get even better in time.
i see something in you, don't change up your style one bit.

5kyLight responds:

LOL

ugh, i did my best listening to the whole thing

you really gotta work on your intros, man.
that intro was terrible. and music's not all about effects either, you need to start out with a melody that carries out through the whole song, otherwise people arent gunna wanna keep listening to it.
i used to think the same as you, "if i change themes a lot, and change the melody a ton, its gunna make the song a lot a greater, but really, it totally kills it.

the song repeated, and im hearing those annoying tempo increaces again...
god, please dont make that mistake again. i mean, maybe if you used a different synth for that part sure, but i couldnt really grasp on to melody at that part yet, so please dont use stupid effects like that too early before ppl can even predict what the next notes will sound like.
stupid mistake, but im sure you'll get better in time.
i see something in you, you just gotta change up your style a bit.

5kyLight responds:

Hey,
This was my first attempt at a genre like this, obviously it's not gonna be perfect. Looking back on it, I agree with you about the tempo changes. It was a stupid idea. However, the whole "change melodies a lot" thing is everything in this genre. The whole point is to start out with an intro, drop down to just the melody, build up again, and then at the climax of the build you bring in a big bassline with pounding drums. Then it drops back down to the part from the beginning to keep the song from slipping into monotony, then builds and brings back the lead bass until the song ends. That's how electro works, so sorry if it's not your style of music :P
If you listen to one of the ambient tracks I made, they are "simplistic with a lot of depth". The thing is, that's just not what you're aiming for when you're trying to make a good electro track. Thanks for reviewing with your opinion but I guess you just don't listen to this kind of music very much. :P

Great job

Ohh, I know that lead! This could fit in a space shooter videogame... it's frenetic, upbeat and "strange" in a good way.

Ain't much cliché either, but umm... what about the ambiance for our split? XD
There would be too much contrast between my ambient/orchestral style and your house/techno-like one. Unless you want it to sound diverse and vary... I'm not sure.

As a stand-alone track this really shines as a diamond atop a carbon hill, it's pretty dynamic, and I wouldn't be able to bring up such music from scratch even if we use the same software. In fact, I'm not able to make a proper review either, since I'm not used to such music.

Sorry for being a bitch,
KKS

5kyLight responds:

No, I'm not going to use this for collab, I just used part of a song that I *am* going to use in this one. That's all :D

Thanks for the review :D

Noice!

For a semi-start, it is super! I really like the contrast between the two "parts" so to speak in the song. The bass, while very well played in both structure and build, was somewhat unsatisfying. Try to layer different types of basses into each other (subs, leads, mids, backing, ect.) in order to create something greater than the collection of parts itself. At times it, between the end of the intro and the beginning of the chorus, I completely lost any sort of tempo or rhythm. Maybe rework that, put some hats or other type of percussion continuing the residual beat to help keep the beat flowing and moving. Speaking of other percussion, the hats and claps/snares were all very very clean and all around awesome, but use some other percussive affects (rim shots, toms, fx, ect.) to help stabilize the overall drive of the song and support the hats claps and kick. Check out my latest song if you want an example of most of the stuff I mentioned.

All in all, great work! I enjoyed every minute of it.

5kyLight responds:

Thanks, your feedback really helps :D
And I will check out your song.
