Thanks man :D

Mastering?

When I was new to a program called LMMS, the smoothness of the notes weren't exactly all that great. I recently learned how to choose instruments/oscillators, mix with effect channels and master better, but this has nothing to do with my technical skill.

Anyhow, all I tried to say was I'll try to ignore the technical stuff and go straight into what I think of the track. I can see you're good at making ska music, it has that feel to it.

The piano feels a little wrong in places. The melody at around halfway is a little strange. The drums fit in with the song, but the chosen instruments aren't really making it very easy.

There is little dynamic variation, or any panning (which is why I really like digital music. In the older times, panning and volume were difficult to manipulate) which took a mark. The song's putting together is well progressed though, and it's solid for a track.

In summary, if you improve your mixing/mastering skill, choose the right instruments, take the time to listen back to your music and fix minor inconsistencies, doing as much as you can, you'll have a nice track. I see a huge room for improvement, and I hope I wasn't too biased (I'm not really for ska/ punk music). Thanks for making this music for all of us!

First off, thanks for the amazing review! I love constructive criticism.

In regard to the piano feeling a little wrong and the strange melody: Allow me to explain. These aren't excuses just where I come from. I'm a drummer and have been for 11 years, so I can tell you up front there isn't a night I don't go to bed wishing I could write better melodies and chord progressions. It's something I've struggled with my entire life. I understand music pretty well and am actually still learning much in school right now. The other thing is my Father is a huge fusion Jazz guy. So I literally grew up listening to strange fusion jazz which has all kind of weird sounding things. I believe because of this when I'm writing I sometimes will write something strange but it doesn't seem strange to me because I'm so accustomed to hearing odd music. If you listen to some of my other music you will see evidence of this as well. For whatever reason, and my friends will agree, some things that sound good to me don't to your average person. Again those aren't excuses but might explain why my music may be strange at times.

In regards to mixing/mastering/ right instruments: I made this with FL Studios. I HATE fruity loops but I can't afford anything else at the moment. If I had the money I would do everything in either Pro Tools or Cubase. As you probably know FL isn't the greatest in terms of mixing and mastering, it's not like there are faders to move. If you listen to my "Rocket Jump Waltz Remix," or "To The Void" I think you will find more of what your looking for in terms of mixing and dynamic variation. Plus with those two I did everything via midi and played it through a keyboard. Where as this song was all programmed in. As you can imagine playing it in makes it much easier to make things musical. Both of those I did in Cubase and then mastered in Pro Tools. Plus just being honest I am still very new to mastering. We've just started learning about it in school so I know I'm still a noob there. lol

Thanks again for the awesome review! and I appreciate the criticism
