I think this fits in the category of Jazz, I'm not too sure.
Anyhoo, I thought I would try making a Jazz type song, it has a string/piano in the background, a dominant set of drums, and a saxophone to make the main melody. It may fit better in a different section, but tell me what you think.

NOTE: I know the snares are a bit high pitched, due to frequency changes. I did not realise this to be an issue due to the fact that I used headphones to produce this.
~EDIT: Fixed these issues, still a bit of high noise however.

NOTE 2:
I can edit the description now!

naw man

I have heard that loop a lot before- must be a FL or Reason loop, not sure which.

I'm not really sure what you're going for here- a song that fits the jazz genre? A song with jazz elements? Because as far as I can hear, this doesn't have any of that. I feel the saxophone acts more as a way to insert a "standard" jazz requirement into the song or something, if you catch my drift. A jazz song certainly doesn't need a saxophone. You can get the jazz feel much more easily with two things: 1. seventh chords, and 2. shuffle rhythm. And, if you have the music theory, a 2-5-1 chord progression (disregard that if that went completely over your head... i dunno how your music theory knowledge is)

And as seel mentioned, I think a flute or something else without the sharp sound of that saxophone would fit better in a very calm and smooth song like this. And maybe a sample set of actual jazz drums would do better than the synth drums here

Still, I enjoy the background very much (i.e the tune minus the sax and drums). There are some very pleasant and delightful synths, so I would expand more on that airy ambient feel than trying to insert jazz into it.

Not even close to jazz

But it sounded pretty alright for some.. I don't know, electronic music with a saxophone? In my opinion the sax sticks out a bit like a sore thumb, it's kind of stale and the melody it's playing sounds a bit folkish and out of place, I think a flute would fit a lot better. But hey that's just my opinion. Also audio advertisement thread, pay it forward.

Nice job

I rather liked the song.Very relaxing. But in my opinion(always)(duh) it should have a bit more energy and be more complicated.Don't be bored to experiment.

Love it

Beautiful piece -- reminds me a lot of Massive attack. I'm a sucker for those low-pass swells in and out too. I'd really like to hear it with something a little warmer and less bright as the lead instrument, but that's my only complaint. I don't even know if it's really a complaint or just personal preference. The melody's gorgeous and the mix is dead on. This is going in my favourites. 5 and 9 for you.

Ahah, thanks for the review.
If you have a suggestion for a better lead instrument don't hesitate to contact me, Im always open to suggestions. :D
