Flow doesn't work.

The piano is fine, but after a while I realized it will be the same repetitive arpeggios. And the drums are really weird as far as keeping a beat for the song. The guitar overpowers the other sounds and is also in a different scale of the song, so it clashes on the ears. I think if you had instead kept the guitar but added a more upbeat bass and piano in the same scale, and have a light mellow but with beat drum, it would work well. 3 looks harsh, but it's my opinion personally. Constructive ciritisism, not so attack your music.

thecoreman responds:

First of all, as I normally say, thanks for the low score. Not offended.

Now to address the the things you've said -
The piano was a bit repetitive, I'll admit, but besides the 24 hour limit on this, it kind of hard for me to practice on FL since I only have the demo version. Trying to find Cubase, but to no avail.

The drums are on a reggae beat, which is a bit weird for people who don't normally listen to reggae, like me. But I've tried to make them interesting and unique, not just 1-2-3-4. It's not sitting exactly on the bars or beats, but if you listen carefully (also to some reggae), you'll see how it fits. For me it works, at least :P The piano doesn't have a special rhythm, it's just 1-and, 2-and... So i've decided to give it the offbeat reggae sound as well.

The guitar overpowering everything - It's because I'm an egotistical bastard who likes to show off that I can play the guitar. Can't help it. But the guitar is in the exact scales - trust me on that. It's just that there's a scale change, to B Dorian > Bb Dorian > B Dorian > D Dorian (F Lydian, which is that diminished scale for the chord played). To me it sound great, but most people find it annoying, I've discovered.

Are you in my class of Music Composition??

haha jk, it's because i have a friend that made a track pretty close to this.

The piano was just perfect, supporting the guitar while it was doing his nice solo, like if it was telling you a story, it also reminds of Carlos Santana ( Latin Guitaris)

Nice Track!

thecoreman responds:

I don't learn Music Composition professionally, so probably no :P

The Carlos Santana is amazing, one of my favorite guitarists in the world. Thanks you for the flattaring comparison. I wanted to go to his concert, but a ticket costs 300$ :( Annoyed the living hell out of me that I won't go... But I'll get over it.

Thanks a lot!
