This is my first significant foray into electronic music of any variety, and my first use of Fruity Loops. I was doodling around one day, and remembered I had downloaded and installed the FL Studio Demo. Well, I had a song I was working on, originally arranged for two guitars, banjo and bass that I decided to electronify.

All instrumentation is 3xOsc. A couple of effects plugins and I think it turned into an interesting sounding piece.

Comments and reviews are obviously welcome, however bear in mind this is not indiciative of my general style.

Psh. what's wrong with FL?

Thanks for the review though.

perfect videogame music

as noted before, it sounds like something straight out of an NES. i would love to hear this in an old school game! i would add a touch of delay/reverb on some of the leading lines (to make em stand out), MAYBE put in some 8 bit drums (might ruin the mood of it if done wrong) and extend it. i love it!

loansindi responds:

Well... the next version of this song has some 8 bit drums. It's in my profile if you wanna check it out. It also got extended a little.

This is pretty neat, man...

The intro is nice and smooth. And so is the entire song. Like, I'm really feeling this song, dude. Only problem, is you have no beat. The song feels like it's just lacking hardcore. If it had that beat, I'd probably orgasm everywhere. But no seriously, beats are important. If you want, I'm sure you could find some neat drum packs in the AF, man. Check 'em out.
The melodies are gorgeous, though man. This sounds downright 8-bit. How slick would this be with some 8-bit drums? It'd sound like some game for the NES. Right on, man.
Shit was pretty good, not gonna lie.

5/5

loansindi responds:

I actually have written a nice little drum line for this, I just haven't gotten around to uploading it. It's also gotten longer.

But thanks for the review, I do really love this song, I don't usually write in a major key and this song is a big departure from that. When I get back home I'll be sure to upload the latest version of this.

I'm glad you liked it, and I'll be sure to hit up your stuff later!

It's a beautiful piece. Albeit i'm stoned.

My only advise is start using a better program like Reason.

I hate it when I show people my music and they're like "sounds like video game music." I just feel like this song is what videogame music should sound like. A song like this with exactly the same instruments would make Pokemon much more enjoyable

loansindi responds:

I only dabble in electronic music, and $400 for reason is not dabble friendly.

Thanks for the review though.

Aww

This really have a sort of sweet, almost cute sound to it hehe. Even though it may have been originally arranged for acoustic instruments, this electronic arrangements feels very natural, and the variety of sounds you've pulled from the 3xOsc was quite enjoyable. And no need to be so reserved about the change of style - it's usually a helpful experience when you venture outside your norm or conform zone.

loansindi responds:

I think I really want to explore the limits of 3xosc in m future FL projects, as I think it's really very versatile with a little tweaking.

I do think I like this song better as an electronic work than acoustic, and I've been working on expanding it in my spare time. At some point there'll be a longer version.

Thanks for the review!
