Well, I think this is about as final as it's going to get. Thanks to Twistedtechnology for giving me some tips for EQ'ing, without him the part where the piano comes in would have sounded absolutely terrible.

Background story: "This one is about a boy living in a colorless world. There's a girl he likes - a strange, quiet girl who doesn't get along with most people. One day, he finds her lying in a field, staring up at the sky. He sits down next to her and asks her what she's doing. She answers simply "cloudwatching." He joins her, and together they stare up at the beautiful art in the sky. They start to talk, and with each word a tiny bit of color seeps into their world, until the greys are replaced with deep blues, greens, reds, and every other color imaginable. Together, they breathe life back into the planet."

So there you go. For some reason the finished version is the same length as the demo, which is kind of strange for me. I thought I made it longer... oh well.

Bonsai Tree

I see the Japanese wonder. Trees in bloom with beautiful flowers. The old are respected by the youth. Fun and good fortune to all mankind, whether they be young and old, to big and small. It certainly is a land of prosper. Makes you wonder sometimes doesn't it.

Sorry this story was short, but well... the song was a bit repetitive so there really wasn't a whole lot for me to see. All in all you have a nice song here, but it could've gone on longer than needed.

Lamplighter responds:

That does make me think... strange, how their land is so different from ours, even though we are the same people. Hmm. Interesting.

My dad also made the comment that this was extremely repetitive, but I've gotten too tired of this song to fix that now. When I've learned more about song structure, I'll come back and redo this.

Thanks for the review and story, it's always appreciated!

hmm

At the first I didn't hear any changes, but when the piano popped in, it sounded better. Though I think the other version sounds better. Probably because the drums and the Chinese instruments are more present in that one on the background . I'm sorry to say but I like the other version more...

Lamplighter responds:

I don't mind that you like the other one more, there was a change with the instruments as you said. I had to make room for the piano, and I still haven't gotten the hang of this yet. Oh well. Thanks for the review, Mjattie!

sounding great!

The piano was a nice touch XD Really brought more out of the song than before. Still lovin that flute and those drums XD

Isnt it wierd when you fix a song and it's still the same length?? I hate that lol.
Anywho, dunno why people are voting too good on this, but its reviews like this that make the hater's votes worthless!!

keep on keepin' on!

Lamplighter responds:

Thanks, I'm glad you liked the piano! If only I could get a good guitar sound... :/ but anyway... yeah, that length problem is really annoying. I feel like all I did was slap on a piano when I actually worked until midnight on EQ and modifying the drums. I guess the little things aren't as noticeable put together. They just make the song sound better. :) Anyway, as long as I get good reviews with some worth to them (like every one I've gotten so far) I'm satisfied. Good ratings do help, though :P

Thanks again for the great reviews and your help, TwistedT! I actually stayed up to see if you'd review, because I've noticed a pattern of when you're on... wait, does that make me a stalker? (Gosh, I know I'm tired when I get this far off topic. :P)

Excellent

Excellent concept, you really nailed it. I can see this in a movie or a flash.

Your choice of instruments was great, the flute/pipe or w/e gave a nice exotic Oriental feel and the beat was an excellent addition without taking over the song.

The EQ is excellent, the mix was really strong. My only complaint is it got a bit repetitive down the road. Sometimes a song doesn't need to be long to be good, you gotta be careful you don't overdo it.

Well done!

Lamplighter responds:

Thank you, HMS! I'm glad you liked this! I'd really like to see someone use this in their flash, or even if they made a flash about the story would be great. The instruments I used seem to be pretty popular, which I'm surprised I got right with my first real track. I know it's repetitive, but I like longer songs and I got a bit too tired of this song to add new things to spice it up. Maybe I'll work on that later.

Thanks again for the review, HMS!
