Redefined: A Piano Album
Track 4 "Through the Mirror"

(music and performance by George R. Powell, lyrics by Brian Buyea)

You can't look away
it's alive
Now you're staring back
the image burns so clearly

And so begins it once again
The piercing blood-red stare
And so begins it once again

The blood-red stare
The blood-red stare

Now I'm awake
I am awake
But trying to see it clearly
Awake but so ashamed
I can see it lying still
Oh God awake
This vicious wheel is turning
Awake oh say awake
This nightmare's coming in

If I could touch the pain
I wouldn't feel so empty inside
Feeling so desperately alive
And becoming unafraid
I'll be clawing at the glass
Screaming so clearly
To let me in

TO let me in
To let me in

I can see so clear now
The image inside me
It's all so real
Staring straight back
Oh this life I live
Please say I'm not dreaming
Oh this life I live
Please say that I'm not dreaming

Another song from the master

This to me feels like a song that could be played in an actual movie I picture a teenager looking in the mirror getting beat by his parents, I also see him realizing what is happening to him and how he feels as if all the love he though he had is gone.

Great work, I love the piano work btw.

Good

good job, big-S it's awesome!

Here we go again

Great song, even though I prefer the original. I kinda miss the screams :(
Still good though.
9/10

GREAT!

I much prefer your style to most of the mainstream stuff. I also appreciate the fact that you're redoing everything with just a piano. Now, for two questions- 1) Would you be willing to accept lyrics through a PM and use them in another song? 2) Have you considered using acoustic guitar alongside piano? It would break the piano's monotony, keep with the acoustic theme, and still probably sound good.

Setu-Firestorm responds:

To answer your questions:

1) I've used lyrics people've sent me before. I'd have to have a lot of spare time to actually sit down and do it, which is why I've only really done it twice so far.

2) I have to get an acoustic guitar VSTi to replace the one I've been using, because just yesterday my acoustic guitar VSTi crapped out on me. It kept crashing my host program and I couldn't solve the problem. So I'm looking into getting another one.

But yes, I will probably have an acoustic/piano song on my next album (which will be commercial).

Awesome!

All I can say is... Wow! I've never heard such a great song before.
Do you happen to have this song in some kind of digital sheet music format? Because if you do, I'd very much like to have them; I'd love to play this myself (although I'll never manage to get it as good as you do)

Setu-Firestorm responds:

I actually intentionally did not keep the original MIDI that I made, because these piano songs were played in realtime as opposed to my normal "step-recording" way I compose (which even though it's more time-consuming, everything's precisely on-tempo), and that would look messy as hell as sheet music or in a MIDI program.

So I opted to not let my bad-tempo-keeping habits not rub off on you guys. =p

Thanks, though. I'm glad you liked this. I personally didn't care for this particular piano version.
