A small entry I made in tribute to @Xinxinix and @sereneFalconer 's NG SLAM POETRY NIGHT
Slam poetry and Beatnik culture has played a big influence in my life at an early age while being home schooled.
And being introduced to it by dad who grew up in the Beatnik generation. Frost, Kerouac, Ferlinghetti, Mishima, ect, have lined my essential reading lists and household recitals for many years.
And for this, I thank the NG community and our hosts for bring this topic to the spotlight.
----
Man of steel-
.
Shame oh shame on the man of steel,
Persecuting the weak and holding no yield.
His golden wings made of copper and brass,
holding the names of days long past.
Shunning the weak off his heavenly steep,
killing a mass with a melancholy trance.
Is this the man we give a second chance?
The man who holds the world in his hands?
The man who turns the strings of life;
with a sound so sweet as the mind tightens
and the soul weeps.
.
Why oh why do we sit and cry?
When the day droneS on
with that rhythmic song
of a brass quire.
Running through our mind
as our skin turns to lead
our eyes full of dread
the child of copper and brass
made to mimic or stand idle.
Truly the child of a man so vile.
With your eyes glowing red
while your mercury fed
with dreams long dead
do you stand for what is right,
for what is clear as the stars at night?
Or do you fight for the man
with the world in his hands
with you in a trance
please give me a chance
please give me a chance
and heaven will bring
life back to your glance
and bring air to your mind
and love in your hands.
.
Oh how the man of copper and brass
lies to the man of days long past.
Spreading hate from his heavenly gate
and never stopping to see the world
that he creates.

Thank you all for the listen.
And I can't wait to hear what the rest of the NG community has to show!!
