Description:
From birth, until the age of two, my parents relationship was drastically going downhill. It all started with the constant shouting, the thundering of my father’s rage in combination with my mother’s fear and submission, was a terrifying and unpredictable thing to bare witness to. Eventually, the shouting turns into outright warfare. My father is hitting and punching my mother, she is shoving him away and defensively holding me tight some days, the final straw that broke the camels back was when he had a knife up to her throat in the kitchen, with me right there behind her crying my eyes out. It was because of my crying and my mothers pleading, that made someone on our apartment block take action and call the police, seperating them both… for the moment at least.
It was like no matter how many stone walls we put up around our precious glass house, he would always find a way to break into it, and cause more distress, be more abusive, and even steal my mother’s heirlooms and precious items, and mooch her for cocaine money.
The divorce was not quick and painless… And went entirely in his favour. I had to see him on weekends, but not before he goes through extensive therapy and anger management first.. I was still young, and still had unconditional love for my Dad, so I wished and I wished for him to be better.
…Will he though?
