A character theme for my video game idea, that according to the Google Docs file I started writing in February 2013. I tried transcribing it back then, and much more recently as well. My older sibling, who goes by the name B, helped with transcribing and writing the instrumental part to a song I only had a rough idea of how such a thing should go with that. They do have a Newgrounds account somewhere, but it was so long ago they can't find it. We recorded this while they were over visiting from a city about 680 km from where I live now. Anyway, my voice over their ukulele playing. The character from which the song's point of view is written is obviously a bat, and the song goes over a lot of what the game I plan to make is about. We had a bit of trouble syncing up towards the end. I could use a metronome to help. We had rewritten one line to be "Wants to conquer my home" instead of "Wants to make me a drone" but I sang the older version here.
Lyrics:
Can you hear my call
echo off the wall
its how I steer my flight
The beast that flies by night
Wings of skin and bone
A quest for magic stone
Foe with metal dome
Wants to make me a drone
Can you hear me, see me, sense me
from the island of the dense tree
My Free-e-dom
For Free-e-dom
Hear Me!
Can you hear my squeak
guide me as I speak
Though it is unlit
I can fly through it
My ears pierce the dark
So I’ll find the mark
When it’s light I see
If not, use my ability
Can you hear me, see me, sense me
from the island of the dense tree
My Free-e-dom
For Free-e-dom
Hear Me!
Can you hear my clicks
break the string and bricks
From the cave that leaks
To the mountain’s peaks
Then I raid the ship
It’s not an easy trip
Started in the woods
bog, then town neighborhood.
Can you hear me, see me, sense me
from the island of the dense tree
My Free-e-dom
For Free-e-dom
Hear Me!
Can you hear my voice
like you have a choice
The village arcade
that hides leaves of jade
Leaves in ancient text
I said what happened next
you know ‘bout the cave
I’ve got a world to save
Can you hear me, see me, sense me
from the island of the dense tree
My Free-e-dom
For Free-e-dom
Hear Me!
Can you hear my call...
