I've been making music here on NG for over five years, and only once have I remixed another user's song; it was from this exact same artist. That's right, if you search "wisftuljiffy" in the search bar, you'll get one Garlagan's best works, and my god awful remix from 2018 known as "wistfuljiffy 2." The only other mentioning of that song is a blog post about missing songs on Spotify. There is nothing else on the site with that name besides our songs, despite the original being quite popular at 31k listens.

Anyway enough of that. The original Form is my favorite song from him, and I don't think I really need to explain why. Just have a listen.

I don't consider myself a major Garlagan fan, despite how it may look. I just think he blew it out of the park with this one. So I basically went "hmmm I wonder if I could orchestrate this into something similar, yet entirely different." And that's what I've done - gave the melody a fresh, much more dissonant take while arranging it for a full symphony orchestra.

Originally this piece was a cello duet, hence why there are actually 2 cello parts throughout the entire thing. But I just kept throwing in instruments until we got to a full orchestra, I couldn't help myself. The piece mostly speaks for itself, but the second half does have some juicy time signature changes lmao. Oh also this is the first piece I've made while at college, so there's that too.

This piece, I feel, really showcases how much better I am at harmonies, chords, and composition technique in general. Although the soundfont kind of did me dirty here at some parts, I think the structure and progression of this piece far surpasses that of most pieces I've done before. Oscillating between consonance and dissonance until a final climactic massively dissonant section followed by a short consonant outro that returns to the main theme. I also added some manual reverberations in the cellos at the end to better match the original's ending. Enjoy!

Note: this is probably the closest you’ll ever hear me do DnB (at the 11/8 crazy part there’s the amen break in there)

Edit: I accidentally forgot to remove the harmonics thing from the second violins, so you can’t hear them at all from the chromatic part onwards. That’s now fixed. The biggest difference you'll hear is right at the end

I love this a lot. Every section is so wonderfully done. You should remix more of their pieces xD

50Steaks responds:

I would, but a lot of his works are well outside the scope of what I've done on musescore (drumstep, dancey w/ lyrics, whatever). This song from him was a one off. My next project is actually something from my singing monsters.

So triumphant, I love it lol

50Steaks responds:

It's triumphant like the original, but with my own dissonant spin on it.
