I was low on inspiration today, so I did what I always do when I'm out of Ideas: create some random melodies and throw them together. This is the first song I have done in an odd time signature. I think it's 7/4, but I might be wrong. Hopefully it's enjoyable!

this is the 50th track I have uploaded to newgrounds!

nice effective use of odd times, throwing in the odd bar of 15 amongst a 7/4 song is always a nice touch. the first half of the track is very repetitive and overly simplistic, and the oppenheimer sample doesn't seem to have a thematic tie to the track except in the name of the track. the sitar-ish solo is nicely written though and i like that there's some development in the track - just not enough to really keep me engaged against the off-kilter sound design and mixing.

I like the crisp beat at the beginning. The intro could’ve been a tad more creative than a fade-in, but the quirky synths and rhythmic content at :12 are neat. The piece is a bit slow to progress, and many of the harmonies sound a bit muddy in the mix. The texture is missing some higher-pitched tones for much of the track, which may be part of the problem. Moving one of two of the riffs up the octave, especially during the first half of the piece, might help separate out the frequencies that the different harmonic instruments are sharing, which will in turn limit distortion in the mix. The transition at 1:29 was a bit sudden, but I like the spidery stringed instrument and more melodic flair the piece develops after that. The piece really comes together once you combine the two themes at 2:10 or so, although some of the new instruments you introduce later on - including the vocal sample at 2:16, the crashes at 2:20, and the ghostly lead synth at 2:33 - take up a tad too much space in the mix IMO. Overall, the sound design and rhythmic content are probably my favorite elements of this piece, but the harmonic content could’ve used a bit more variety at times, and the mix could be tighter. Still, I love the eerie mood and the wonky meter of the piece. With a couple of different sound design choices and some more prominent vocals, I could see this making a really good hip-hop track. Keep at it, SirSandman0! ^_^

thanks for the feedback! audio mixing has never been my strong suit, but I've been working on it over the years. Hopefully, my future tracks won't have these issues

I think it's either 15/4 or it's 7/4 and then 8/4 every other beat, or it's 4/4, then 3/4, then 2 measures of 4/4 again.

I do like that starting melody. It's bold and it really embraces this time signature you used, I just wish the instrument that plays it was a bit more... Powerful I guess.

That would also lead to a stronger contrast at 1:30 where it leads into the bridge.

I general I like your composition but your sound design and choice of instruments isn't as well developed.

Congrats on 50 tracks! And yeah this is interesting, because the song actually takes turns between being 7/4 and 8/4. But that gives it a bit more of a unique weird style that makes the song stand out more. While some of the instruments are calm, the melody and time signature provide a strange mysterious feeling at the same time. So it kind of feels like you are on the bottom of the ocean or something, or in some kind of depths, which I think really suits the title haha. I also really like the string instruments you put in to further emphasize this mystic mood you already got going. Great work, keep it up!
