“I originally made my account back in 2008 so that I could get badges when I played games lmao. I was super into flash games at the time but as I got older I drifted away from all that and forgot about Newgrounds. It wasn't until about 2016/2017 that I met @HeyOPC and somehow ended up in his Discord server. Long story short, we bonded over music and became friends soon after and he introduced me to a ton of other folks involved in the NG scene. I had been posting music to NG prior to then, but I never really considered the entire community aspect of the site and @HeyOPC (Chris) was a huge catalyst for that. My first "official" NG project was Walt's Big Day;

Which is just some stupid animation I had made during college. Soon after that, Chris and I came up with the idea for the "Everybody Loves Raymond" collab;

Right at the height of Animal Crossing hype because we were both a bit annoyed with how much people were simping over Raymond the cat lmao. It's so funny to look back on because that project was a big reason we both met pretty much all the people we know now lol.

After the Raymond collab. @HeyOPC (Chris) and I kept working together and kept making serious and not-so-serious music. At some point, we started joking with one another about creating a band like Brockhampton, where the name of the band was just two jock-ish names smashed together. From there, things spiraled out of control and Chris and I soon came up with the idea for our smash hit album:

Cheese World

Where we released the greatest music in human history. Cheese World was a huge turning point cuz I started getting a bit of recognition in the community, which is still super weird for me haha.

From there, I've just kinda done whatever on the site with whoever. I worked on American Ballfrog with Nokoi and Shal,

made a track with Chris for a Cyranek animation;

But definitely the biggest thing I've worked on was the Endless Summer Lovin' collab that BrandyBuizel organized;

I had made the song Summer Breeze one day last year when I was feeling a bit depressed, not long after BURY got released actually:

(which I am now seeing is over a year old. Crazy). There was a whole lead up to that, we got a ton of folks involved making short animations that had to do with summertime and it was a blast to see come together, especially since it's the first time anyone's ever made any sort of media for one of my serious songs haha. During all this, Shal, Chris, and I were doing:

NGPR

Which was just a little radio-style talk show we had been hosting that Shal came up with. At some point we got approached by the NGP guys and asked if we would be interested in hosting the podcast since we all seemed to be doing pretty well with NGPR. The rest is history.

As for my history with music, I've been doing some form of music almost my entire life. I took piano lessons at some point, but most of what I know is self taught; same goes for guitar. 6th grade is about the time when I realized that you could use a computer for music production. I was (and still am) a huge Skrillex fan and loved dubstep. I don't remember how I learned about it, but I stumbled upon FL Studio and, being that I was a kid that liked dubstep, decided that I wanted to learn how to make dubstep in FL Studio lmao. I still have some of my original projects from when I first started producing and man they're awful haha, but it's incredible to see how much I've grown. Here are some of the tools, synths, and instruments I've used over the years:

Current:

  • 3xOSC
  • Xfer Serum
  • Spectrasonics Omnisphere
  • Native Instruments Kontakt 5
  • Native Instruments Guitar Rig 5
  • Washburn Acoustic Guitar
  • Fender Squire Stratocaster
  • XLN Audio Addictive Keys
  • My Human Voice
  • A LOT of drum sample kits

Previously used:

  • reFX Nexus
  • Lennar Digital Sylenth1
  • Native Instruments Massive/Massive X
  • Fruity Loops Harmor

There are probably more, but those are the ones I can think of right now. Surprisingly, my production tends to be pretty minimal in terms of instruments. I love trying to push my tools to their limits and doing weird stuff!” ― @Droid

Thank you so much again for having me! It was a blast!!!!!

Aalasteir responds:

Thank you so much absolutely it was a blast!!!!!

Good guest, but lots of places that'd benefit from a cut to help the pacing and energy. Could easily shave off 30 minutes of the pauses, thinking, and jokes that dont land for a reaction by the other speaker

Aalasteir responds:

Thank you, you're right. I will try to be more critical and thoughtful with editing.
