I hope you read because this track has some pretty cool backstory ig

Angel please come save me
from this world i made to live in,
I'm but a powerless being
placed on a pedestal for those to see.
Is this existential dread i`m meant to feel?
is a child this young deserving of this?
praying to the heavens above,
To hope the lord rids me of this curse.
I`ve asked nothing more
Than to stop living a life full of bore.

This was a poem given to me by a girl in our class, she's damn beautiful, very talented and kind and I want to give more effort on the poem she made.

This poem was supposed to be for our Arts class but I dont have a clue on how to make a poem so I requested her and she happily agreed, our activity is about making a painting and adding a poem in it, but I messed up my painting and It was all bad and ugly and I feel like I dont want to use her poem on my shitty work so I just made my own stupid poem.

And yes I asked permission to her if I can use it and she first questioned why but later agreed.

I got inspired by the poem and making something cool on it, I dont want to go full on experimental because I want to use this for my NGADM auditions. I may not evoke exactly like whats on the poem but I tried to make something that can fit (I hope).

Btw, this is my first Ableton track :) , the first drop was done in FL but I later fixed it in Ableton and made the whole thing in Ableton but I still mastered it in FL because most of my plugins are there. Last message is I might not pass Auditions, the amount of super talented people are insane that its enough to immediately eliminate me. But even with that I hope you like it even just a little.

Genre: I dont know, all I know is its inside drum n bass and hype bounce elements with a lot of experimental features and IDM drums and Glitches

really intricate and lush, well done on the sounds

Have to say my critique would go along the lines of TL for composition. As far as mix, it's a bit top heavy on your intro glitches, as well as breaks. I'm talking the 6k and especially around 10k and up

Wishing there were more volume on your bass and less contrast between loud and soft sections, by a few dB perhaps.

Your watery noises at 2:20 or so are out of stereo field it sounds like with your synths. I think panning, widening, delays, or some other effects to achieve the wideness of your harmonic instruments could help there. The biggest issue is mesh between textures. I can't describe why some feel flat and wide, others centered, like the contrast between watching a spectrogram in one hand and a wall of noodles perpendicular to it is what my brain tried to conjure up as an analogy for how the sound is behaving.

It may sound better on open air monitors, but it sounds a bit thin. I think multiband compression tinkering could help fatten individual instruments and FX up, and a subtle treatment to soften high treble (hi-hat range) would do well on the master. That's the only weak point of this piece, stereo mix and the outro being quite abrupt. Otherwise I sincerely enjoyed it.

im fanboying over these glitches so hard

I like the glitchy and ominous riffs at the beginning. The sound design and production are both awesome, and you nailed the rich atmosphere and moodiness too. At :46 or so, the piece loses a bit of momentum, and after a while I would’ve liked the piece to stay grounded in some more stable harmonic content. The melancholy breakdown at 1:40 is nice, and I really like the addition of the piano and the wavering synth pads at around 2:05. The filtering/volume adjustments on the pads at around 2:35 are a bit disorienting, but I like how the piece sinks back into a mellow atmosphere before the final drop at 3:23. That said, there are also a lot of moments in this piece where the texture is fairly minimal, and I might’ve liked to see either some more melodic content or otherwise a thicker soundscape. Still, the mixing, mastering, and instrumentation are killer here. Really evocative piece, CrowdDoll! ^_^

CrowdDoll responds:

Thank you so so much for your review. I really tried to go a little more Experimental for this piece because I want to explore the more crazy part of my music and extend the bounds of what I can do. But thank you for your honest feedback, I'll use it to improve my Round 1 track ( ╹▽╹ )

This is awesome I love it
