It is what it is

So, i've had this little song aside for some time and kinda forgot about it, i thought it could be nice song to upload for this, it's listenable it's fonky and goofy and i like that.

Those weird vocals in there, thats me trying to sound like professional singer :)

I hope you enjoy not only as a audition track for NGADM but as a track to enjoy.

What kind of VST plugins do you use? It's so cool!!!

Arponax responds:

Im mostly using Vital, Sytrus and sometimes FLEX when i want to find some sound im unable to make myself....and for fonky songs like these i use TAL NoiseMaker(has interesting disco noises :D and its free)

I like the catchy 80s-style synths at the beginning. The vocal samples fit it well, and the growly bass riff at :17 is a great addition to the texture. The arrangement of the piece feels a tad formulaic, with a fairly abrupt transition followed by either adding or subtracting one or two instruments at a time. More gradual fade-ins or melodic transitions would be welcome, in addition to automations, filtering, etc. You also overused the “it is what it is” vocal line after a while. That said, I think you nailed the dynamic contrast between the refrain and the extended bridge at 1:18. The bass riff at 2:00 is especially catchy, and I think the transition at 2:39 was more creative than some of your earlier ones. The slap bass at 3:10 was a fun surprise, and the final refrain of the piece has a nice, victorious-sounding vibe. You hit the piece home nicely at the very end with a fresh perspective on the piece’s sound design and rhythmic content. Overall, I think the mixing, sound design, and melodies here are really strong. Some of the arrangement details could use some work, but most of my complaints here are relatively minor. Keep it up, Arponax! ^_^

Nice uwu

I like it

My thoughts:
-Mostly good sound design; I like the aggressive feel of the bass
-Snare feels a bit weaker than I'd like, but maybe that's just me
-Has a kinda... I almost wanna say 80s type feel, which is kinda in line with what you expect from synthwave, I suppose, but it stood out a bit more than usual this time, and I like it
-The random scattering of that high-pitched percussion around halfway through ain't bad, per se, but I don't know how I feel about it
-Despite that more apparent 80s feel I alluded to, song still retains a decently unique identity, which is partly helped by the bass around 3 minutes in

Overall, good job! Keep up the good work!
