I don't know much about music, but I can easily imagine this music going into any 8-bit aesthetic game. I really like.

NGAIC Review:

At the very beginning, I wish the bassline was shorter and beep-boop-ier (more staccato), which is generally the style with chiptune. Then, when the melody grows at :25, it could switch to how it currently is.
Love the main melody and synths used, feels very 80’s nostalgic! Also love the laser thingies at the main melody. :44 and other changes in feel could use some cymbal crashes, even those 8-bit ones. Same at 1:23.
The key and style change towards the end was nice and cute! Ending was a bit out of place and used some odd tones, felt like a second song stuck on the end of the first.
Overall not bad, and a great example of the style! Biggest complaint is that it didn’t have much direction; the transitions weren’t super amazing and the ideas didn’t flow well. If that had been cleaned up I couldn’t find much else wrong with it!

I'm enjoying the first half of the track. The playful introduction of the melody and development with some polyphony is great, as well as the variation starting around 0:51. Also, the melodies leave enough space to breathe so the chiptune sound does not tire the ears.
In the second half, it feels to me like the track does not really know where it wants to go. At 1:10 we are thrown back to the beginning (kind of unexpectedly for me, because of the buildup before), then the kick gets introduced to punch forward, but the melodic instruments do not drive the track forward.
So my suggestion would be to rethink the arrangement of the second half and combine some ideas of the first half (like the polyphonic melody and the arpeggiated driving chords) with some new ones, like the shift in tonality that happens at 1:35.

You bring up some points I definitely can work on. Thank you for your feedback!

I don't have a lot of expertise in regards to Chipstep, but your track does sound similar to modern Hardstyle and euro Handsup trance. You have rolling bass coming in from the track and start off a very pleasant melody- with claps/snare coming in on queue. There is a missed opportunity to change up the track before the kicks, and a small space to allow for anticipation- but the repeating note before the kick saves it. About 1:47 you have an off-beat kick to make it feel like we should go into a off-beat as some hardstyle tracks, but then we go back to the normal beat. Finishing smartly on some sequence notes and percussion.

Overall, it was great to listen to! Good job! :)

Positron832 responds:

Thanks for the great review! Chiptune isn't my expertise either but it was nice to learn how the percussion can be made. I'd love to remake this track in a more modern style in the future
