The Problem With Holy Weapons and Vampires

I love Horror. My love of horror goes beyond the likes of Freddy, Jason and Leatherface, but rather extends to the classics. Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, you name it. However the one thing that really has bothered me a lot was one aspect of the folklore. The use of Holy Weapons against Vampires. Now I'm not talking about Silver or Stakes in the Heart as even if they aren't holy weapons, they're still weapons that kill. I'm talking Bible Verses, Crucifixes and Holy Water. Now don't get me wrong, they have had some creative moments with them for over two centuries of horror writing. My personal fave being Lost Boys III when Edgar Frog sprayed a Vampire with fire sprinkler water, then blessed it to kill him.

However, the thing that bothered me about it is the context of said Holy Weapons. A context that was lampshaded by the popular horror comedy Fright Night. "You have to have faith for it to work." Now in Fright Night, it mean that you yourself had to either believe in God or at the very least believe that cross in your hand could kill them. No sweat. However from all the years I've seen regarding beliefs and the things that extend from it such as the popular Tulpas, I've noticed the huge fault in faith. Faith in general is a two way street, whether it's religion or personal belief in someone or something. You have to believe in it, but the people who you're trying to convince or destroy also has to believe in it too. Case in point this skit. Normally in a Vampire movie, you point a cross at the Vampire and that's it. Not this time. So our hunter here, must come up with a way to stop this Vamp, before he becomes her next meal.
