Great atmosphere, truly spooktacular.

A concerto for string quartet and piano accompaniment, in ghostly minor. . .

Nella Morte Piangiamo, Nella Morte Moriamo
Roughly translates to, English <-> Italian: "in death we cry, in death we die." Halloween and spooky thoughts therein had me contemplating about some (psuedo)-philosophical stuff, up to and including if whom has already passed onto the afterlife (whatever that entails) can still feel raw emotions, such as sadness, longing, happiness, regret, and anger. Most occult stuff points to the idea that indeed, even once you're gone, residual aspects of yourself (be it a spectre, energy, etc) can continue to radiate and emulate your emotions, whether it's what that person felt at the time of their death, or ruminations after the deed is done.
Hope this song kinda evokes these feelings by these spiritual fellows, congregating one last time to play their final session together. I hope this despite having less than 24 hrs to come up with something, and purposely restricting myself to 4 main voices, 2 accomps, 20 tracks in total (or less)--including those instruments/alt modes--2 percussive 'drum' pieces (a kick made up of upright bass plucks and percs of string pizzicato), and < 4 1/2 minutes of run-time (the less, the better). Tried to also be more centric on the orchestral elements, with the only 'EDM/electronica' being the 1 kick paired with the bass plucks and the drones/atmospherics/ambiences. . . Give it a sort of real 80s horror vibe (or attempt to), with some small Castlevania inspiration.
Been extremely busy the beginning of October, burnt out in the middle, and busy again towards the end, but I still wanted to present myself with a challenge and get something in before the season/day of ended. Wanted to focus on song mood, sound design, and the adage of "less is more" this time around. . . Let's see if it works. :) Don't overly care if I win this year's competition (haven't even seen top 3, as of yet), just wanted to do a little something outside my norm, exercise those composition-making skills, and try to have fun with it rather than stress myself out over it.
Comments and critiques, as usual, are a delight and most welcome. ♥
Happy Halloween everyone! :D :3

Heya!
I love a lot of classical music. It may seem odd given my usual tastes, but I am a big fan of composers like Chopin, Beethoven and Mozart, and a bigger inspiration to my adoration on that genre-front is Castlevania games and bands like Kamelot and Dance with the Dead, who seamlessly combine attributes of metal, orchestra and electronica together. Orchestra + EDM + Heavy Metal is one of my all-time favourite mash-ups, besides Jazz + Synthwave and anything with Funk/Blues, and sadly the former is something I don't explore often (enough), so I try to--now--every Halloween. :D
I at least hope I'm getting better at making pieces feel authentically orchestrated and classical... ^_^; I don't know much about modes and more intricate chord variations / music theory, so a lot of the piano work was improv'd based on the Amaj/F#min chords and 7th/9ths. Just messing with MIDI note layouts, really, for the crazy gliss runs and dotted notes...
But thank you so much for your comments and questions! Means a lot to hear that you enjoyed the song and its atmosphere! ♡
Please contact me if you would like to use this in a project. We can discuss the details.
