This Extended Play is written in a genre that I am calling micro-minimalism. It features a lot of the ideas brought up by minimalism, but is rather focused on a soundscape rather than a followable process.
Micro-minimalism is written with one instrument track (usually a rhythmic synth) and contains a high amount of reverb to help fill in the space of the soundscape. Instead of using the phasing technique of minimalism, micro-minimalism uses a technique I am calling Re-ordered Repetition, where the note lengths may be slightly changed per repetition and the pitch classes are switched around between two or more notes.
All micro-minimalism songs in this album did not take very long to write, yet are very long in their duration. The form of most of these songs consist of adding complexity on top of existing material until reaching a climax, in which all layers then lose notes simultaneously until a basic idea is left and the songs reach their conclusion.
Perhaps most importantly, though, is the complexity of the texture, where with the right ear you can hear something different every time you listen to a song. With all that being said, I do hope that you enjoy this new sub-genre I've created. Be sure to leave a rating if you enjoyed and tell me what your favorite song out of the five was in the comments. Thanks y'all!
