I created this song during the October 2017 Firestorm that destroyed so much of my home communities. I was stressed out ready to get an evacuation order, depressed watching as other residents of neighboring areas evacuate with little warning and lose everything (some their loved ones), and suspicious of government reports of what caused the fires (no not ridiculous conspiracies that did surface), and needed to occupy my time. After 30 days of fantastic work by all those who fought back the fires from resident firefighters and those from elsewhere (TY Australia for sending teams and supplies to help combat the fires); the fire reached 100% containment and was no longer a major threat, i hadn’t been evacuated and was relieved it was over. This led to the songs overall positive emotion. The dramatic and cinematic force of it came from my realization that I live in the shadow of a “dormant” shield volcano, which I believe was the cause because they erupt in cycles or continuously and there is little warning (there’s plenty of reasons why I came to this conclusion but that’s for a discussion elsewhere). It was a powerful and emotional event I experienced then and this song really is just what I was feeling then.
