Title track from my album "Ascent"

Piano-led with a mixture of strings, synths and electric guitar this track begins with a dark feeling. However the tone becomes more hopeful with FM-style tubular bells backed by a heavily reverberating pipe organ giving way to strings and horns. A seemingly dark moment takes on a more heroic role courtesy of low and mid brass backed by strings and an arpeggiated synth texture. The strings then take the moment and set it floating in space, making it unclear whether the mood will become lighter or darker. A bell like synth tone provides a backdrop for a call and response between the french horns and piano, bringing the hopeful melody back to the forefront. With a fast run through the notes of the scale, the violins join the brass in bringing a key change which starts the final flourish toward the finish. One final key change brings in a choir and violin arpeggios before abruptly coming to an end; allowing the piano to take the final phrase, ending where we started but on a more hopeful note.
