Share

An abandoned game project from last year, this is one of the series of images that would make up the opening of the game

Do you think yo uwould ever stream yourself making your art? I would love to see your proccess.

walnusstinte responds:

Ah sorry I missed this, I don't have anything I can stream right now unfortunately but I'll think about it in the future for sure

love the retro feel to it. makes me want to play Super Nintendo again

Pretty cool design! What was the game for? I like the retro feel to it. Reminds me of the mid nineties, when you had that older tech stuff (especially PC) coming out at the exact same time N64/PS1 were battling it out with the new 3D technology.

Was this a group project? I have found that 90% of group projects fail because somebody else either doesn't agree on a direction (or isn't carrying their weight), or it is (predominantly) a lack of time. If it makes you feel any-better, I have posted videos/illustrations from stuff I tabled and packed from 10 years ago... never too late! And sometimes your previous art is better than where you are currently, or the style is different. Either way, a few touch ups and off you go!

Where it gets dicey, if you had a programmer and they flaked out, that puts a lot of us non-programmers in a bad (and pissed off spot)… especially if you let said programmer use your computer and they never gave it back!

walnusstinte responds:

Yeah the goal was the style of 90's games for stuff like the pc-98 that I've personally never played but I have a really cool look because of those technical limitations.

No it was a commission from an indy game dev so thankfully I got payed ha. I've been burned by my fare share of game projects started by friends though, it's often just too hard for multiple people to keep the level of interest required to get something done =/

And yeah I don't consider old art assets a waste at all, at the very least they make good portfolio pieces!

Amazing work. Different use of colors, great details, shading, placement of pixels, it really all comes together for something great.

Seriously gorgeous~
