I've noticed that both Sonic 3 and Day of the Tentacle involved mad scientists using jewels to power their machines. Eggman wants the master emerald to power the death egg robot and Dr. Fred used a diamond to power his time machine (the Chron-O-John) so I thought "What if Fred wants the emerald?" And drew this.

UPDATE: I found out about the "Colour halftone" filter on photoshop so I can make my art look more like a vintage comic from now on.
