Roman Army of the late 4th-early 3rd century B.C.

Depicted in order is a Hastatus, Princeps and two Triarii.

The Scutum/Thureos are flat in these depictions for a few reasons. Its difficult to tell if early depictions of this style of shield are flat or oblong due to the lack of depth and perspective in depictions such as frescoes. It's also somewhat difficult to gauge when the Scutum began to adopt it's oblong shape.

The Samno-Attic helmet worn by the princeps last appear in the archeological record during this time period, eventually being replaced with the Montefortino. His two pila are socketed, which would've been the more common type in use at the period across Italy.

On the Montefortino's the triarii are wearing, the distinctive triple feather arrangement isn't depicted as the usual three feathers coming out the helmet's knob. Instead I went with the far better attested triple crest attachment on the man on the left, with the man on the right instead wearing a simplified version of a feather holder attached to the knob with two side feather holders being part of the helmet, inspired by the helmets and crests found at Egadi battle site, dating to 241 B.C. (Galluccio 2023)

The triarius on the left wears a standard Italian style pectoral as lorica hamata wouldn't be adopted until the later end of the 3rd century B.C.

The triarius on the right wears a linothorax, inspired by those depicted on the Etruscan Amazon sarcophagus.

The hastus and princeps carry xiphos while the triarius with a visible sword carries a la Tène type B sword.
