Today's is Castlevania: Symphony of the Night's 27th Anniversary This is a small thing I made a long time ago but that I didn't share here before.

I got inspired by the amazing work done by Pigsy and Pyron on their Castlevania: Symphony of the Night port for the SEGA MEGA DRIVE/GENESIS, and decided to take their idea of a 16bit version of the game a step further by imagining how an 8bit version of the game could look like.

While it may be a little bit unpractical as actual game, due to a big amount of sprites on screen, and the flickering that would entail, the graphics on this mockup follow perfectly all the technical limitations of a NES/FAMICON game with the enhanced attributes of the MMC5 chip, meaning it would be possible to have this level of detail on the real system.

In the future I'd love to make more 8-bit demake mockups like this one, not only for Castlevania, but for a lot of other games I love.
