On March 2, 1933 a film came along that changed the face of cinema forever, a film that was the defining influence on a young Ray Harryhausen, and a film that set the stage for giant creatures to be more than just an oafish obstacle devoid of character. Represented through the years in every medium starting with stop-motion animation, to suitmation, to motion capture & CGI and that is just on the big screen. I have personally enjoyed the legacy of the giant ape my entire life, his influence has been in books, cartoons, video games, trading cards, toys, remakes, parodies, posters, dishware and so on. So, on the big ape's 90th anniversary, I present my contribution piece, the main film versions of Kong throughout the years starting at the top with 1933, then down to1962, 1976, 2005 & 2021. To paraphrase Carl Denham "Ladies and gentlemen, look at Kong, the Eighth Wonder of the World."
