🐍Here is Carmilla the Crying Witch!🐍

This piece contains a few effects that contrast from my similar works. The pattern inside the oval is not stripes, it is instead a cross pattern that almost looks like snake scales. Unlike my other compositions, where the "stickers" and background had matching colors, the snakes (and my name tag) are olive green in the maroon colored background. The reason the elements don't match is it just doesn't work for the snakes. No matter how I adjusted them, the snakes looked flat with matching colors. So the only way to make the snakes look more appealing was to make them pop.

At first, I did not know how to present my Carmilla piece and I felt reluctant to twist the rules for my portfolio series. After reaching out to some friends for feedback, I realized that sometimes it's alright to alter an element when necessary. It is my art, so it is ultimately my choice.
