Contest entry for the Epic Battle Fantasy 13th anniversary art contest, which got 2nd place!

I've always enjoyed playing with contrasts -- light and shadow, safety and danger, positivity and negativity. Our heroes have been through a lot. 13, depending on where you are in the world, can either be a lucky number or a cataclysmically unlucky number.

I wanted our cast and staff to look into the light, look at what they'd overcome prior, and remember that regardless of whether they've been together seven years, thirteen years, or longer, they can continue to overcome things. And I hope that, like all these beautiful people staring at the light, that y'all might do so too.

The entire thing was done on Autodesk Sketchbook from start to finish, with the sole exception of the XIII stencil, which was set up on PowerPoint first before I filled in the colour.
