Galax, my DnD character I play in the campaign I'm currently in.

Here's his backstory, though be warned, it's quite wordy.

Galax was known as a strange child growing up. He was did not display very Kobold-like behaviors and was constantly asking questions. One day he found an old panflute on the ground while scavanging mushrooms and brought it back to the tribe's underground base. He found he was a natural talent with it but it was taken away by the tribe leader as it was against Kobold tradition to waste time on things like music or art instead of working.

Galax's only ally was another Kolbold his age named Arix. She was the only one who talked to Galax and displayed a fed-up attitude with the tribe's obsession with tradition, saying that Kobolds could accomplish so much more if they just did things differently. One point of contention she had with the Kobold's hatred of Gnomes.

"Why should we hate an entire race for something their god did? It's not like they had anything to do with it!"

Arix's ideas stirred in Galax's head until he eventually began to agree with them himself. It also probably helped that Galax may have had a crush on Arix. Over the years Galax and Arix became very close, understanding one another on a deep level and devolping a relationship unlike any two Kobolds had had before.

One day a Gnome was captured by the Tribe. They planned to torture and then eat him until Arix spoke up against them saying that they're acting like idiots and that they shouldn't eat someone out of a senseless grudge. Galax meekly spoke up in agreement as well causing both of them to be locked up in the tribe's jail until they "learned to respect the ways of the tribe". During their imprisonment the tribe was attacked by a viscious Otyugh. The entire tribe evacuated leaving only Galax, Arix and the gnome to the creature's mercy. The gnome managed to get out of it's restraints and escape, so the Otyugh yurned it's sights on the two kobolds. Arix told Galax to run and dove into the Otyugh's mouth, forcing the beast to choke on her body, killing the beast but dying in the process.

Tramutized by this event, Galax later left the tribe carrying Arix's body. He buried her in a neaby forest, and vists the spot yearly. The Kobold tribe assumed they both died. Galax later tried to integrate into outside society. Of course, this was diffcult for a Kobold, as most looked down upon him and saw him as a inferior creature. That is until he met a halfling bard named Corrin Greenbottle, who took Galax in and offered to train him in the ways of the bard. Inspired by Arix's kind words in the past, Galax agreed and became a bard not known by many, but those who did know him considered him one of the best.
