A tribute to one of the most iconic guilty pleasure movies...besides the crappy follow-up we'd all rather forget about.
I see this movie as the "bridge" between early 90s in-your-face attitude and mid-to-late 1990s outer space aesthetics that serve as a sort of "prelude" towards the Y2K aesthetic later in that decade. It's also one of the many "cartoony stuff made cool" pieces of media that serve as an inspiration to my style.
This drawing is a sort-of "re-imagining" of the one I did nearly two years ago, except with the original Tune Squad uniform, and with more of a mid-1990s aesthetic to it, taking notes from one of the posters, and with a new pose test. Though I gave SodaDog the Tune Squad uniform, but I also gave him those Air Jordan 11 sneakers in the movie because they're cool.
The airbrush shading and muted lavender-esque palette was a last minute addition, to match the colours used in the movie, to give it that extra vintage feel, but I didn't want to add grain as it would sorta ruin the colours and the thick lines distanced from it anyway.
