Saw this little game boy palette challenge going around, why not? It'd be cool imagining SodaDog if he got his own video game series. For this one, it's a tie-in to a movie starring himself that may or may not be worthy of replayability.
I went for something title screen-like for this one, as opposed to just drawing characters in different poses. The main inspiration for the background and all was <i>Spot: The Cool Adventure</i> and <i>In Your Face</i>. I simplified the detail on the sneakers to make it easier to draw, but still looking cool.
I feel like I didn't put enough thought into this at first, but I intentionally also went for a jagged non-isometric-like background and simplistic shading to push the simplified feel further, all while looking at title screens of game boy games I've collected for references. I didn't want to go overboard with detail to retain the simple, yet detailed feel.
