"The tarborn are disciples of Boroxis, the first born of the tar, who shed their original forms to become representations of it. Many of the tar creatures are merely specs and pieces of Boroxis itself, but the disciples retain a modicum of their original intelligence and are therefore more intelligent than the thralls that are purely created for protection. It is believed that those who follow Boroxis believe that the shape one is born in is not an accurate representation of their souls or their true selves, and to transform is to come closer to their true selves. Boroxis, and by extent, the tarborn have a disdain for aestheticism in the culture of the sapient species and tend to be aggressive towards outsiders. For it is in their belief that being attached to anything physical and stable is in vain, as the true truth is ever malleable and changing."
