Since I'm and uncultured swine with too much free time on his hands, tell me; what is this "Boktai" series?
My favorite game on the Gameboy Advance. Boktai: The Sun Is in Your Hand.
Most people probably have never heard of it, since it didn't do very well in the US. The game had an actual solar sensor in the cartridge, which used sunlight as ammo to fight the undead. It was my favorite way to spend the summers, and the reason I got so many sunburns, ahahaha. I'm still glad I kept my copy of the game all these years.
"May the sun be with you!"
Since I'm and uncultured swine with too much free time on his hands, tell me; what is this "Boktai" series?
The Boktai series follows the protagonist Django, a vampire hunter who uses the Gun Del Sol (the solar gun) to kill the undead. He wants to defeat the Count, a vampire who killed his father, whose scarf he currently wears. Otenko is a messenger of the sun, who is guiding him along the way.
The game is strongly influenced by spaghetti westerns, and also has some references to Norse mythology. The first game features a customizable gun with swappable parts that you can find throughout the levels. Changing the lens will alter the element you use (sol, wind, fire, etc), and swapping out the frame will change how it behaves. It features a lot of block pushing puzzles too, which are pretty fun to figure out.
That sums it up in a basic way I think, but it truly is something that's hard to explain without playing it first-hand. Hope this helps!
oh man, Botkai I remember trying to play this game on the og gameboy advanced on my front porch, couldn't see shit
Man, it was hard to find a good angle to see sometimes. Either the glare was too much, or the screen wasn't bright enough. Good times
"Taiyooooooooooo!"
I love his hair! And that headband reminds me of the Dark Souls 3 Firekeeper.
Oh, I can kinda see that, since it has a similar shape to it!
