This is a good start. I like how you draw faces. The faces on your characters are simple and expressive, so they'd probably work well for animation. Overall you could probably work on keeping your character's proportions more consistent, especially in the legs, but that problem isn't present in this piece. My main criticism here is the hands. His fingers seem too long and the palm/back of his hands seems too small. His right hand would probably look fine if you shortened the two lines in the middle a little bit, so that his knuckles start closer to the middle of his fist.
